Some of you may remember an old TV commercial (though I cannot recall what they were advertising), the slogan has stuck with me.
“When you look good, you feel good. When you feel good, you look great!”
These are words that make a lot of sense and that we can live by. Yet I have now found it rings truer than ever before when it comes to the clean and natural beauty products that I use on my body.
I have always been health conscious when it comes to food and supplements, and as I get older, I am more faithful to consistently exercise as well. I know the response of my body to the goodness I give it. However, when it came to what I was putting on my body topically, I succumbed to whatever! That was until Mapleblume! WOW! Thank you Mapleblume!
The statement: “When you look good, you feel good. When you feel good, you look great!” applies when we dress ourselves, feed ourselves, and goes to a whole new level when it comes to skincare and makeup. So why does this seem to be the last thing we change about our daily routines? Possibly because we are inundated with various products that are designed for travel and long shelf life, competing with one another for the right texture, scent, or any other trendy gimmick.
True confession: I hate even repeating this, but, I used to joke around and say “I could die from lipstick intake” because I constantly rub my lips together. I like the feeling of lipstick and lip gloss, but the action makes it disappear pretty darn quick, and not into thin air. The point is, our skin absorbs whatever you put on it, which is the very reason we are using these products in the first place. This is important!
The good news, I could literally eat anything out of the Mapleblume box (I don’t).
If we want to be sure that what we are putting on ourselves is good for us in the same way that we care about what we eat, we need to be more keenly aware of the ingredient lists of our beauty products. I don’t think we can afford to turn a blind eye anymore. Women in particular, because of the amount of products they use, but also men and children, are being bombarded with chemicals and preservatives daily.
As consumers we have loud voices and we are beginning to see some transformations in the beauty industry. We have a great role to play here by where and on what we spend our money. We have some work cut out for ourselves and our families.
This website is a tremendous resource you and I, as consumers, can use. Surprisingly, you will often see ingredients rated low to medium on the toxic scale. A low rating on a scale that says it has an effect on the endocrine system, meaning our hormones or fertility or are even tumor producing. This of course is concerning when you look at how many products you are using in one day.
I know this is hard to look at. The good news is that our voices and our wallets have been demanding change and it is happening! We still must be watchful and diligent to do the finger walking across our computers to check ingredient lists. Even the larger beauty corporations are hearing the rumblings of our discontent and are trying to change. They are attempting to put forth what they say is "natural" and even "organic", but buyer beware. Because of their size, they so far have either not bothered, or tried to figure out how provide us with products void of toxic preservatives, emulsifiers, etc. The onus is on us to become more educated, and willing to try new products that may feel or smell different than what we have been used to. Trust me, the benefits of what we do in the present will be off the charts in a decade from now, and for future generations.
Therefore, once again, I truly cannot say enough about the beauty box from Mapleblume. This subscription box has caught the vision, and is a vehicle of change. Mapleblume curates luxurious and wonderful products from around the world that we would have a hard time finding ourselves. The box’s value itself is extraordinary. Most of all, I don’t have enough words to express my complete joy and true confidence about each product I have received. Knowing they are not only safe, but actually work with my body not against it.
I’m feeling good! And looking great!
